Isandlwana Lodge is built high up on the Nyoni Rocks on which the Zulu commanders stood to direct the Battle ofIsandlwana. This magnificent location overlooks the enigmatic Isandlwana Mountain and historic battle site below,where the British Army faced one of its worst defeats, on the morning of the 22 January 1879. The Lodge is built ofthatch and stone with huge wooden columns supporting floor to ceiling glass windows, which afford a marvellousview in all directions. It is decorated with a combination of traditional and modern styles, and each bedroom has aprivate balcony. Dinner is served in the candle-lit dining room which features chairs covered in iNguni cow-hide, theroyal cattle of the Zulus.
